M Benjamin PHILLIPS Sources: A family bible has an entry that states that David Phillips married a Mary Leigh who was the grand daughter of Edmund Leigh, a reverend in the Church of England. The marriage record for David Phillips and Mary Leigh is at the St. Mary's church, Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales. (IGI, Sheet: M022181, Call #104493, 104494 and 104495). David, Mary, and most of his family are listed in the 1851 census for Lobo Township, Middlesex County of Ontario, Canada. His age was given as 58 on his next birthday. The 1871 census for London, Ontario gave David's age as 76. Both censuses support a birth year of 1794. The "Welsh Settlement" document listed David's birth year as 1794. David's will, signed 13 Dec 1867, listed his residence as the Township of East Williams in Middlesex county; all eight children and his wife, Mary, are listed.
